Hello? Is It Me You’re Looking For?

I’m back! My two-month blogging hiatus has expired, so let’s catch up!

Here we go!

Let’s get this out of the way; COVID-19. Hoarding, isolating, and assigning blame in the MOST fascinating ways. (Seriously?) Well, this has certainly been a fine example of how people behave in a crisis. I don’t think I’ve heard “fuck you” as many times as I have in the last 30 days. I don’t think I’ve ever run out of toilet paper in my adult life except in the previous 30 days. I don’t think I’ve ever observed such selfish, public behavior, disregarding the safety and health of others, as much as I’ve seen it in the last 30 days. I believe the squeaky wheel gets the oil. There are a lot of squeaky wheels in this world. Sadly.

What has been happening with me? Really not much! Here’s a little run down.

My time in seclusion… let’s see, practicing social distancing because of the coronavirus. We fight on…

Taxes. Well… the only certainty in this life is death and taxes. Who fights with their tax man and gets dropped? (Just me?) Damn. Taxes… at least we have until July 15th. A welcome reprieve, not to mention ample time to find a new tax dude.

We left Texas and traveled through New Mexico and into Arizona. Stayed in Arizona, locked down. Now I’m in Las Vegas, Nevada! Yes, quarantined, and socially responsible in (of all places), ‘Vegas!’ (Can you feel the agony in those typed words?)

Now, I must report, in my RV travels, I have met some fascinating people! Some nice, others not so much. I find the notion of ‘kindness’ nothing more than a relatively politically correct statement in most of the 55+ RV parks. I fully admit this may be mostly tied to the COVID-19 restrictions and flat out fear! Hoarding, isolating, disruptions in necessary daily rituals seem to lead to coarse attitudes. Hey, I get it!

Then again, I wonder if I really do get it?

I have been in self-imposed isolation for almost 20 years! When you have a chronic illness, this is necessary for your very survival. What has it been, 30 days in quarantine and people wig out. Really? I think I do not get that!

I’ve come back home to my blogging tribe. Here is where I find peace. I find support. I’ve missed you all! I’m so delighted to be back.

Always live your best life!

~Kim

  1. Itโ€™s only been 2 months!!!??? I feel like Iโ€™ve missed you for 6 months! So glad you are back and Iโ€™m looking forward to hearing more from you. Yep – crazy times. Struggling to control my fear has been the worst part for me. But living with chronic illness should have prepared me for heavy doses of fear, right!?! Praying this situation smoothes out soon and life will become more bearable for everyone. Oh I missed you so much!

    1. You are hysterical!!! Love it. And OH the fear thing… chronic illness IS scary, but I am with you, this coronavirus instills FEAR. Donโ€™t care who you are! This is definitely a time for prayer… Netflix and pizza help too!๐Ÿ˜Š

  2. Vegas must be interesting. Canโ€™t say I ever enjoyed being there. Avoided downtown at all costs. The farthest East I traveled was to Joannโ€™s. Rainbow and lake mead blvd.
    glad your back to blogging.

    1. Hi Margie! I had been to Vegas once before. Did the casino weekend thing with a friend- had a blast! But the traffic! This time, no traffic, no people, no casinos. Itโ€™s a bit SAD! So many people unemployed. Itโ€™s a very different stay. Iโ€™m glad to be back to blogging, too!๐Ÿ’œ

  3. Welcome back, Kim! I was wondering how you were faring (RVing through a pandemic!) and glad to read you had some soft places to land.
I just came back from shopping for some snacks (you have to have snacks when you’re staying inside!) and noticed that eggs were missing from the shelves as well as cleaning products, I was hoping the hoarding was slowing down but…
Take good care and stay safe!

    1. I still canโ€™t find hand soap! Bar soap has been fine… I had a few stashed. The wild thing here is pasta and spaghetti sauce shortage! I havenโ€™t had trouble getting eggs. So weird. RVing is actually pretty nice in this pandemic! Very easy to distance! I agree with you on the snacks! A must! Hope you are safe and healthy! ๐Ÿ˜Š

  4. Welcome back Kim! Iโ€™ve missed you soooo much. Especially in times like this when people are acting so crazy. Every bit of โ€œnormalcyโ€ now helps! Youโ€™ve been my rock for a long time and I appreciate you my friend. So glad you and Jeff are staying safe and still enjoying the RV life despite this damn pandemic. Love you so much lady!!!

  5. Dear Kim, so lovely to see you back on the blog! How bizarre it must be with lockdown on the road and in Vegas, with it being much quieter than usual (or at least, it should be!) I think this situation has brought out the best and sadly the worst in people. Stay safe, keep us updated whenever you can, and don’t let the negativity eat away at your soul.
PS. I devoured The Heart’s Invisible Furies. I loved it but it also made me achingly sad in ways I couldn’t explain. Brilliant book, thank you for recommending.xx

    1. Hi Caz! Strange times. Actually, I’m OK with less people as we tour around in our 39′ RV! YIKES. Yes, some people… I realize that these are frightening times. So glad you like the book! Sad… I get it. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Take very good care! I need to get hopping to blogs I’ve missed… at least the most recent. I’ll pop over to yours very soon!

  6. Glad you’re back Kim. We’re in total isolation here, Cyberspouse is one of the one and a quarter million Brits told to strictly stay at home for 12 weeks as they are vulnerable. So now I am a carer and a shielder! But neighbours have been really nice, getting shopping for us and chatting from our front gardens.

    1. It is very weird! But, necessary. However! We discovered the hotels on the strip are still lit up! Crazy cool! We enjoy walking around, loitering, and snapping photos! ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜† I do miss the music of the casinos tho- the pic with my feet on the dash is how I roll! Chill is right. Thanks, Steve!

  7. Welcome back Kim. I’ve been wondering how the full-time RV life has been treating you, especially during this pandemic. I hear ya on the 55+ RV parks. We really enjoy ours on the north side of Phoenix, but the ones we’ve visited in Mesa ๐Ÿคฎ not so much. We’ll be waiting to hit the road for WI until after Memorial weekend. We were hoping to roll sooner especially with Phx heating up, but we’ll need to see what the WI gov decides. Sister-in-law and hubby have the boat dock in and I’m looking forward to some lake time this summer. How about you?

    1. Thank goodness Iโ€™m not the only one disappointed with Mesa! The 55+ parks in south Texas were quite nice… but, why is desk staff so crabby? Donโ€™t get it. Well, we are going to summer on the Oregon Coast… we do have a wedding in August in Minnesota. Iโ€™d like to take my hubby up to door county in WI. Enjoy your time at the lake, I think WI is just gorgeous, summer and fall! Nice to hear from you Ingrid! ๐Ÿ˜Š
