What About You? (Sunday Quick Questions #38)

We answer ‘quick questions’ here on I Tripped Over a Stone on Sundays.

Why?

Because… I blog. I get sick of me. I want to hear from you!

Don’t think, just answer!

1. What did your childhood home look like?

2. Is there someone/something draining your energy these days? (How?)

3. Would you like to start a new hobby? (Why or why not?)

1. It was on a corner in a small town. A big two-story home with an attached garage. It was white with black shutters. We had many trees in our yard but my favorite was a huge oak tree. It was beautiful when the leaves turned.

2. No. Not anymore. I do still have these people around but no longer are they invited into my daily, personal life. My boundaries are firmly in place when I am around energy vampires.

3. Yes! I am looking for a fun hobby.  I am thinking about making cards, or maybe bracelets… just can’t involve too much ‘stuff’ because of the RVing the hubby and I are doing now.

  1. 1. The first home I remember had an albino starling we looked after in the back garden until it grew up. We had to stop predators and other birds, plus our two briards beating him up. Before we moved to the south-west I remember he had grown and got himself a girlfriend. I don’t recall that much of the house.
    2. Boris Johnson.
    3. I don’t think so. Music comes first and even if I got a regular job, music would still come first.

  2. 1. Small 2 bedroom 1 bath home. Green with white trim. St Augustine yard.
    2. Fiance. He likes getting me riled up, but he’s trying to curb it.
    3. I love to quilt. I don’t need or have time for a new hobby.

    1. Terrific little house to grow up in. I’m still laughing about the fiancé! Quilting is an incredible hobby! I’m a lil bit jealous! If only I would have paid attention when I was taught to sew as a little girl! Thanks Rebecca!😊🎉 Happy New Year!

  3. 1. Like this! https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/1689-Atherton-Way-Salinas-CA-93906/19383558_zpid/ … My daddy built it. 😊

    2. Yes, Donald Trump. In a world filled with hate he’s the biggest hatemonger. In a world full of fools, he’s the lead buffoon. In a world teetering on the brink – at 2 minutes to midnight – he risks the future for dollars and praise. True human progress is stymied, has always been stymied, by charlatans and wretches like he. He drains not only my energy, but the energy of all mankind.

    3. Gosh no. I’m buried, day to day, in the interests and responsibilities I have now. I was thinking, just the other day, how quickly Christmas has come and gone and how I never “got into it,” this year. The spirit was there, I discovered, and willing (I LOVE CHRISTMAS!) but there just wasn’t any TIME to sit and reflect and … you know … just enjoy the moments as they pass. And there’s nothing to cut out, right now. I can’t give up my work, my writing, my reading, my friends, my dogs, my wife, my games, my pastimes, my house, or any of the other things that call to me constantly. In fact, every moment I spend doing anything I feel like I should be doing the other thing, or the other thing, or the other thing. I mean, sure, I’d love to take up astronomy. Or play chess or poker. I’d like to pick up a new language or learn how to code. It would be fun to brew beer. I’ve thought about taking up cycling or about getting into investing. Who doesn’t want to learn magic? I want to watch every movie on flickchart.com’s Top 100. Twice. I’d like to take up yoga, maybe start a podcast. I ought to run for office somewhere. But dammit, Kim, I just ain’t got the TIME!*

*As I spend 25 minutes responding to your post. 😉

    1. I love those craftsman bungalows! I’m not sure of the correct name. How cool your dad built your home! Donnie isn’t scoring any likability points with me either. So you have a thousand and one hobbies you’d like to do! 😆😆😆 Damn it Tom! If I could grant you more time I would! I think you’re a pretty well rounded guy as it is. However, with more time we could both learn magic!!! AND the 25 minutes to answer these questions was well worth it!😉

  4. 1. Nice and comfy though I always think of my grandparents’ home coz we used to hang out there most of the time.
    2. Not anymore. Life’s too precious to let them stay.
    3. I wish I had more time for sports (tennis and swimming) and learning new languages.

    1. I can remember my grandmas homes too. It’s a good memory Bo! Got rid of the energy vampires! Life IS too precious. I can’t remember the last time I played tennis… I liked playing softball in the summer… it would be nice to have more time for those things. Happy New Year my friend!

  5. 1. I Googled my first home and it looks exactly the same. I was actually born there. Mum and Dad rented the top half of an Edwardian terrace house on a busy road near the River Thames. An old dragon lived downstairs and part of the rental agreement was that she was allowed to come up once a week to use our bath as she didn’t have one!
2.Brexit has been draining my energy for a long time, I’m a Remainer.
    3. I wish I could draw or paint, but I think making collages would be something fun to try.

    1. Near the River Thames! Whoa… cool you could look up your own house. You were born IN the house? I love those stories! Brexit. Must be hell living in limbo like that. I don’t know what it feels like to be in your shoes. The hubby and I have been following the process. I’m with you on the collages! I’d like to learn how. Have a Happy New Year, Janet! 😊🎉🎉

  6. I’ll tell you about the home that was lease and escape in my childhood because I don’t like the memories associated with the childhood homes. It was a one story grey Santa Fe style ranch house with a matching 3 horse stables on 47 acres of hills where birdsfoot trefoil was grown with a back porch that faced south so you could watch the sunrise over the plains and the sunset over the mountains. There were always ginger snaps in the pantry, Canada Dry, and bananas. It was simply quiet and peaceful. And nothing bad ever happened there.

    1. People are draining the life from me… Energy vampires. I’m trying to find the balance between keeping people in my life because I should and banishing them because they suck.

I want to learn how to adaptive scuba.
