What About You? (Sunday Quick Questions #24)

We answer ‘quick questions’ here on I Tripped Over a Stone on Sundays.

Why?

Because… I blog. I get sick of me. I want to hear from you!

Don’t think, just answer!

  1. Have you ever come across a real-life bear? Where?!?!
  2. Did you have a favorite toy you carried around as a child? (What was it?)
  3. Do you own any Vinyl Records? (Which one is your favorite?)

  1. Yes! I was a camp counselor in Ely, MN. We had a mama bear and two cubs who loved our garbage dumpster. Black bears. The DNR had to come in, catch them, and move them.
  2. Mr. Lion. My grandpa gave him to me. (A pink blanket too, that my older brother eventually hid from me so I would stop carrying it around.)
  3. Yes, a ton!!! I have to go with Purple Rain by Prince because I can sing every word of that album, loud, proud, and out of key! I own my performance!

            1. Kim spots cub, knows mama bear is near… kim spots mama bear and second cub… kim runs into the cabin and hides with the campers… The forrest rangers come and tranqualize the bears and move them away from the children in the camp. All done! Ta-dah!

  1. 1. No. But the old multi-burger scoffing bloke next door is hirsute.
    2. Yes. He was a one dimensional soft toy called ‘Flat Boy’ – his name based on the story my dad made up about him where he got the way he was after being run-over by a steam roller.
    3. No. My parents had thousands of vinyl that looking back I could have used in my business. They sold the lot a few years back because they never got played anymore. Idiots.

    1. Hahaha! Close enough, the hirsute neighbor could count! Flat boy! I think your dad must be a card! The vinyl dilemma… we are downsizing so I just sold my so called ‘prize’ record collection. I couldn’t even give it away! Ok I got $20! Where are the vinyl collectors when I need them??? George! You must be a true blue would be collector! Oh my! 😊💫

      1. It isn’t that I didn’t have any 🧸 or toys, I just can’t remember one I took with me everywhere I went. I did have one that was my constant companion in bed. It was a stuffed tiger. I threw up on it one day and it was forever dubbed Stinky. I actually ran it across it many years later as an adult. All the fur was rubbed off, the neck was tilted to one side and hung by a thread, and it had one button left for an eye. Nothing else was left, so I guess I got a lot of use from it

        1. A tiger! I new you had to have something memorable! I bet it was fun to see it all those years later! Mr. Lion was in bad shape too, when I found him. I will try not to erase while you have the stress of house building on your hands… but after…😉💫

  2. 1. Nope. And I’m okay with that. 🙂
    2. I had a Cabbage Patch doll. Actually I had several.
    3. I don’t own any vinyl records. In fact, when I had to downsize I got rid of a lot of CDs. Any music I have no is digital.

    1. Haha! I love that! “I’m ok with that!” The cabbage patch dolls… I missed out on those dolls, my little sister did not. Cabbage patch everywhere! I’m really liking the digital. I am so tired of moving with records, cassettes, cds… blah. Digital is very freeing! Thanks Emily!😊💫

    1. It’s nice to see bears on TV. Not so nice when you are responsible for 12 little campers! 😳. Too cute, a blanket and teddy! I love seeing small children with their safety toys. Don’t blame you for dumping the vinyl. Moving with them once, should’ve done it then and there!

        1. Wendi, I’m groovin on the minimalist vibe! Cause not a lot “sparks joy” anymore!🤣😂🤣 Yes, my 12 little boys… my co counselor quit! So me and the boys would walk around banging pots and pans to scare the bears! They were a handful but so fun! I enjoyed being their camp counselor!

  4. 1. No, but I’ve seen some very big, grumpy men in the UK that could easily pass for a bear!
    2. I had a little Thumper teddy that I loved, from Bambi. I took it in with me when I was about 5 or 6 and had my tonsils removed. Loved that little thing.
    3. No, we used to have lots of Vinyls and a record player, but it all went years ago when we moved as we didn’t have the space for it all. Purple Rain, what a classic. Are we going to get to hear your rendition?

    1. Big bearish men. Yikes! That’d be scary! 🙂 Ooohhh little Thumper. I bet it was the cutest. Yes, growing up, that was it. get home from school and put on some records… those were the days! – Yes, I can perform if you like. I have a back up singer, (Wendi) now… you want to join my Purple Rain Band? You ccould be a back up dancer?

  5. I have not seen a bear outside of a zoo. Yet. I have heard they are around where I live. I did see the tail of a cougar. It was one of those “ is that what I thought it was” moments.
I loved baby dolls. Believed in Santa until I was 12. That is plain sad and I have never told anyone until now
Yes still have vinyl records. The statler brothers and Ronnie Milsap

    1. Margie! Hello! Yes, Oregon and those darn cougars. And they say, don’t run, make yourself appear bigger than you are. BS I’m pushing someone at the cougar and I’m running! Don’t have to be fast, just faster than everyone else. HA! Baby dolls and Santa… I think that’s lovely to have held on to until you were 12. Most kids have to grow up too soon. The statler brother and Ronnie M. I know them and their music. Good music.

    1. I like going to see the bears where they SHOULD be… happening upon one is not cool! You were making doll clothes even as a youngster? Wow. My gandma made my barbie’s outfits. And my baby doll’s too come to think of it. The vinyl. The collection we had when I was young got soaked in our basement and we lost most of it. Glad you have recordings of what makes you happy! Very cool you divided everything like that.

  6. 1. Yes, but I was safely inside a vehicle at Yellowstone! So not sure that counts?
    2. No.
    3. I do find music to be very therapeutic and a great hobby so I am drawn to album covers for their art or other meaningful reasons and have several on display in my office–Kris Kristofferson, ‘Jesus was a Capricorn’ was the first ‘cool’ album that I found while out rummaging/junking. In the years following I would find cool ones and have given some of the quirkier or ‘classic’ finds to my sons (for example: Bruce Springsteen–Born in the USA!) as gifts; they love them as well and use them to decorate their homes/apartments now. I do have a record player but it’s tucked away and rarely used as pandora or iTunes is just ‘easier’–and most days I take the easy route, haha!

    1. It counts! A bear in the wold is a bear! If they wanted to get in your car, you know, they could! The art on some of those albums were definitely incredible! My cousin was an incredible artist. She spent hours replicating album covers by hand. Yes, definitely worth buying for the art alone! Cool idea to decorate with them. I’ve seen a lot of people use the old records to decorate with. I should have been looking at the cover the whole time! 😊💫

  7. Kim,
    Coyotes, yes, a bear, no.
I’m sure I did but damned if I can remember. I had a lot of stuffed animals and dolls. I remember having a red purse with a see through pocket that was perfect for the small little doll that came with it. When I got rid of the purse, I kept the doll. Does that count?
Yes and no. So, I have lots of vinyl but my son is currently “safeguarding” them for me. When I was a teen, I seemed to always have a Led Zeppelin album playing. I didn’t necessarily have a favorite; the thing about Zeppelin, they always had an album that catered to whatever mood I was in. They still do.

    1. Coyotes… I thought at first you wrote cougars! I am very afraid of cougars… but I’ve never seen one. I’ve never seen a wild coyote either. When you remember your favorite toy… come back and write it dow. Unburden yourself, my child. 😉😁 I can’t believe you kept the doll and sent the purse to bag heaven! How pure we were when we were young! Led Zeppelin seems to understand me… too! 🤣😂🤣 Thanks Mona!💜
