What About You? (Sunday Quick Questions #20)

We answer ‘quick questions’ here on I Tripped Over a Stone on Sundays.

Why?

Because… I blog. I get sick of me. I want to hear from you!

Don’t think, just answer!

  1. What book are you planning on reading next?
  2. What is the last movie you saw at a theatre?
  3. What is your go-to outfit for a night out with friends?

  1.  I just started Mindhunter, Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit by John Douglas and Mark Olshaker. A little lite reading for summer. 😉 Oh! I went to Nikki’s site, The Brainless Blogger as she has some Amazon links that will help her out financially (check it out if you can help) and purchased The Whole Health Life by Shannon Harvey. Looks fascinating. Excited to start that one too.
  2. I honestly can’t remember… like the third installment of Pirates of the Caribean movie!?!? (We have Netflix.) There was a more recent matinee… must’ve been a bad movie as I don’t remember what it was!
  3. Black! Tunic, leggings, and boots or wedge sandals, depending on the weather.

  1. 1. I love finishing a book and looking through my Kindle collection to chose what’s next.
    2. Johnny English, silly but very funny.
    3. I can never decide, probably jeans and a blouse with one of my colourful home made cardigans.

    1. I finally switched over to the iPad Kindle app! You are right, it’s like Christmas morning to see what’s next. A funny movie is worth a trip to the theatre. Colorful homemade cardigans? Are you a sewer or is yarn being used to create these cardigans? I’m very intrigued! Sounds like a great go-to choice! Thank you!😊💜

    1. Hi George! You are back or found WiFi? Yay!!! The War of the Roses. That sounds like a great read! I enjoy history, I’ve heard about the black vs. red roses in… church design? Or was it paintings? Shoot. Can’t remember but I know it had something to do with the war of roses. You are an Avengers fan! That would be great to see at a theatre! Trousers and a clean shit, without forgetting shoes! Sounds like a great go-to, George! 😊💫

      1. I just got back last night. Tons of boring paperwork to get through. The white rose of York versus the red rose of Lancashire was the war of the roses. ‘Red Rose’ won. I don’t go out to places much at nighttime so never really think about dressing up. Crowds I can’t deal with, plus I don’t drink. Some think that’s unusual for some reason. Good to be back on your blog again ~ George

        1. So glad you’re back George! Yes! York and Lancashire! The red rose won. Drunk crowds are not my idea of fun either. My hubby doesn’t drink either, so when we go out, it’s usually to a nice club, I’ll have one or two drinks, we watch a band or performance, have some appetizers and leave before the ‘drunk crowd’ takes over! It’s been a very long time since we’ve been out tho…

  2. That’s some psychedelic cacti!

    1. I’m halfway through a David Baldacci novel, then I’m looking forward to ‘Rage’ by Jonathan Kellerman (one of my fave authors). American Crime thriller addiction is real! Is the FBI book what the TV series of the same name was based on? I’ll make a note of that as it sounds like my cuppa tea!
    2. My memory is appalling. I had to check my email for the last online reservation I made, which was last year when I had a voucher for a free ticket – I’m such a tight arse with money!) It was A Star Is Born (thought it would be pants, but it was v.good!)
    3. Is this a hypothetical? It’s been years since I’ve been on a night out, and the last time I saw a friend was my ex and that was about 2 years ago. Yikes, I need to get out more! 😂 If I were to go on a night out now my go-to would be hot pants over black leggings, my doc Martens with roses, a black top and jewellery (then in my bag would be at least two jumpers!)

    1. Aren’t the cacti cute? I love that picture, hence, now my selected image! Ooohhhh… I like the way you read! The addiction is real, my friend! Yes, the book I’m reading IS the younger character in the series Mindhunter. OMG! I love that show and the book is great! So cool that the word serial killer didn’t exist until this guy made it up! And so much more…. Get. The. Book. He has a few out… I will be reading them all! The crime drama addiction struggle is real!

I know, the cost of movie tickets, unbelievable. We always shoot for a weekend matinee because it’s cheaper if you go before 6pm. We don’t really go that much. It’s hard to sit for that amount of time… we just watched A Star is Born. I thought it was OK. What does “pants” mean? You thought it’d be pants?

You would dress like my idea of a U.K. rebel punk chick! I remember those floral docs you have! They rock! Thanks Caz!😊💜

      1. I don’t like the expression all that much but to say “it’s pants” is like “it’s naff”, so a bit lame or rubbish. Oh, the great British slang!
I hadn’t realised there were other books too. I spotted “The killer across the table” on Amazon, so I’ll add that to my list as well. Thanks for the heads up, I’ll look forward to these with much dark glee!! xx

          1. Given as how money is tight, I checked the library and they don’t have the Mindhunter one anywhere in the county, BUT they do have the other one on order, so I’ve put a reservation in for that! My inner FBI/criminal psychologist wannabe is happy.

            1. Sounds great! I’ll keep going on the Mindhunter and you get the across the table one, Mindhunter should be available soon! The other one he did, it’s older, quite a few crime scene photos (yes!) is the cases that haunt us… this looks really good! I got that off Amazon in the new and used section for like $2. FYI! Check the new and used section always! Cool Caz!😎

  3. 1. I am just starting the book, The Art of Failure The Anti Self Help Book by Dr Neel Burton.
    2. I can’t even remember the last time I went out to the movies. But with google’s help I think it was either Moulin Rouge or A Beautiful Mind.
    3. My go to outfit would be a comfortable pair of black yoga pants with a cotton t-shirt and then one of my many duster type tops to complete the outfit. As comfortable and warm as possible.

    1. Hi Deb! I already like the book! Anti self help! Yes, keep me informed. The movies… it is just difficult to go. Loved a Beautiful Mind. Man, that was sooooo good! Love dusters! Absolutely the best invention, ever. Cool, Deb! I’d have a girls night out with ya! Thanks for answering Sunday Quick Questions! So fun getting to read everyone’s answers. This is my favorite day!🎉

  4. I’ve just finished “The Obstacle is the way” by Ryan Holiday, well worth reading, packed with insights to help with life’s challenges. I have a bundle of books waiting to be read but as I am going to try, for the first time, the writing challenge, camp nanowrimo or something to that effect, all reading will probably be bullying related.
Last film was “the Greatest Showman”, It was so good, really captivating and totally unexpected! I love the cinema for a night out!
Favourite outfit at the moment (in our supposed summer), skinny jeans, a colourful top, white denim style cropped jacket and wedge sandals. Do you wear black even in the summer?

    1. Ooohh… sounds like a very interesting read! You are doing the nano problamo writing challenge… I think they’ve shortened it some how. Good luck! I’ve heard it’s challenging but fun. 😊 the Greatest Showman, thanks for reminding me, I want to see that!!! Your outfit sounds really cute! Yes, I do wear black in the summer as well. I wear capris, usually black, once in while a white or beige, and most always a black tunic of sorts. Lots of silver jewelry in the summer or turquoise. Winter all black, gold jewelry and maybe an animal print scarf. Basic. I only know how to build on black. Hahaha! Otherwise it’s T-shirt’s and jeans or cut off jeans with flip flops for casual, very casual. We do a lot of boating, canoeing and beach stuff during the summers here. I think your outfit sounds really cute! Love the white denim jacket! Thanks, Marie!💫

    1. Hello Bojana! Yay! I was getting worried, not hearing from you all day. I hope it was because you were out doing something fabulous! 😉 you read cool stuff, so I’ll be waiting to read about it on your blog! Baby on board! So many movies are just not worth mentioning. But when you see a good one, well I tell everyone!Go see blah… blah… blah! By the way, probably because you wrote about him I noticed, people quoting Bukowski on FB. So I looked him up. He was a handsome, rugged dude! Whoa… but I found this one quote in particular, and thought of you! “We are here to laugh at the odds and live our lives so well that Death will tremble to take us.” I think that was a very good Bojana statement from Bukowski! You are a jeans gal! I don’t wear jeans out that much… do you have a favorite brand or type? I finally found a brand that fits me like a glove. They are called ‘Diva’ jeans! I’m serious! And I love them! Thanks Bo! 😊💜

  5. 1. How can I possibly answer that? I have no idea what mood I’ll be in!! I CAN tell you what I’m reading NOW. Tina Turner’s latest autobiography, My Love Story. I’m a huge Tina fan!
    2. Green Book. LOVED it! Ever since our favorite cinema got new huge, comfy, leather, electric recliners, I can go to the movies again without being laid up for 3 days. I LOVE going to the movies! (It’s the popcorn!)
    3. Skinny jeans, silk tunic, statement necklace. And depending upon the amount of back pain and how much walking is involved, high heeled, pointy toed booties or Audrey Hepburn flats.

    1. Tina Turners autobiography! Wow. I bet that’s really good. I love her! Green Book. That looks like a must NOT miss movie. I’m glad to hear it was good. And your theatre sounds wonderful! Leather recliners. Stop! That is awesome. Yes, movie theatre popcorn. I love it too. Yummo! Your girls night out outfit is very cool! That’s a great go to! Thanks my friend!!!

  6. Mindhunter is a little too chilling for me. I don’t like fictional thrillers featuring serial killers, let alone reading about the real ones. Would be right up my mom’s alley, though. ~ That’s what My Guy says! Why go to the movies? We have Netflix? Uh, movie popcorn! And sometimes it’s nice to get off the couch or out of bed but still be able to do something normal that I can comfortably do. ~ My winter go-to wardrobe is predominately black. But I do mix it up a bit and get somewhat colorful in summer.

    1. Got it, you are not a fan of crime thrillers! I love them. I like trying to solve them! I minored in criminal justice. Caz just has a mind for criminality built into her DNA! I know the popcorn is the reason to go to the theatre. For sure! It is something we can DO as well. Very true! I’m with you on the black wardrobe. Easy to build on! Always a pleasure Jayne!😊💜

      1. I thought you were headed to bed!! ♥️ I like legal and political thrillers and love mysteries. Anything British. I just can’t do grisly stuff. Once in awhile, sure, but I can’t read one after the other.

          1. I HEAR you!!! I’ve been lying here all night trying to find a comfortable position and thinking I should just get up and empty the dishwasher and start some laundry. I am so sorry sleep is eluding you. I really understand how awful that is! ♥️

  7. 1. I have a stack of used $.25 thrift store novels to work through–I was excited to find all of them but can’t remember the titles of what is left–just finished a thrift store book about Joan Rivers written by Melissa Rivers–hilarious.
    2. The Wife (Glenn Close). I snuck in a bottle of my own root beer as the root beer in that theater is NOT caffeine free. Decided it was just easier to stay home and watch Netflix and drink my once a week root beer treat without fear of getting caught!
    3. Skinny jeans, white blouse or black sweater and tan short boots or tan wedge sandals (depending on if it’s summer, spring or fall. In the winter, if I actually go out–then it’s a big pair of furry Sorrel boots–because I also trip over stones! So me on ‘ice covered anything’ is a disaster!)

    1. These are brilliant answers! There is nothing like a thrift store score on books you want to read. Bravo! I must admit, sneaking a BEVERAGE into a theatre AND drinking it! You got guts!😂🤣😂 I thinks I’d opt for Netflix and enjoying my treat, too. I like your go to outfits! My mom said I was in the wrong line when they handed out grace. Hello fellow tripper! I can’t even count the number of times I’ve fallen over. Sorrels are a life saver. Thanks so much! I had fun reading your answers!😊

      1. Haha, well, not really–it was an old independent non profit theater and I’d just given extra than the ‘suggestion’ at the door so I was a bit more worried about the fact that in the dark it really looked like I was sipping on a bottle of actual beer, LOL. Love your fun spirit, glad to have found your blog! and yes, love my Sorrel boots!

  8. 1. I just started Joseph Stiglitz’ latest book “People, Power, and Profits: Progressive Capitalism for an Age of Discontent” and, at 30 pages in, it’s phenom! I put off finally reading “Brave New World” (one of Harari’s favorites, which I’ve never read) to get to this one so my next book will undoubtedly be “Brave New World.” Dylan keeps telling me he has a good copy he’ll loan me but he shows up every week to church with no book. He owes me 17 beers.

    2. Funny story. On March 15th I purchased 4 iMax tickets to see Captain Marvel in Reno the day after the Leprechaun Crawl. The morning after the Leprechaun Crawl, which happened to be St Patty’s Day, I was pushing Irish Car Bombs on everyone at Centro Bar for about two hours. By the time the movie came around I passed out in the theater just after opening credits. So the last movie I actually saw in the theaters was Infinity War, like, a year ago. The other three who got free iMax tickets and actually saw Captain Marvel owe me 17 beers. Each.

    3. A leprechaun. https://www.halloweencostumes.com/leprechaun-piggyback-adult-costume.html

    1. Ummm… 68 beers… 4 people, 17 beers from each… I hoe you bought that leprechan costume. Which I laughed until I cried when I pulled it up. I’m sure you WILL buy it after the first 17 beers… OMG!!! I can’t even…! Thanks for the stories, I’m sure your friends enjoyed Captain Marvel! I must say, the book reading you do amazes me! But the go to outfit… PLEASE GET IT! Or, my god, do you already own it??? Tom!?!?!
