Remember Flintstones chewable vitamins? I loved those vitamins. To me, they tasted like candy! Guess what? You can still take Flintstones vitamins and get a healthy combination of vitamins and minerals. These are vitamins for children and because they are for a child, they are a safe vitamin. If you want to blow off the rest of the information in my post that’s cool, just remember to take a double dose of Flintstones vitamins daily. Get the original formula.

The following are my top 5 supplements you must consider adding to your diet. I will answer the “Why?” question. You need to know why they are important to decide if you should consider taking them.
- Vitamin D
B12 is essential to the proper function and developments of the brain, nerves, and blood cells. B12 also aids in immune function, iron absorption, and energy production. Everything good about supplements starts with vitamin B12. This is your door to all things, allowing the body to absorb required vitamins and minerals.
I have major problems with absorption. Vitamins that must be swallowed do not work with my system. I must take chewable, injectable, IV, or inhaled. If you have issues that prevent you from absorbing pill forms, I suggest getting a B12 shot once a month. You can self-administer these. I gave myself B12 shots until my insurance stopped covering these. Currently, I am using a B12 vape pen, though it seems to help, you must take 5 puffs 2x a day. I am always forgetting! I believe I will go back to the shots and pay out-of-pocket once my vape pens expire.
Vitamin D helps our bodies fight illnesses and depression, improves our chances of losing weight and aids calcium in ensuring our bones are strong and remain healthy. (You must take Vitamin D in conjunction with calcium for absorption benefits.)
Calcium. We all know calcium promotes healthy bones, but did you know calcium aids in heart, muscle and nerve function? Calcium is also an anti-oxidant and helps your body absorb iron.
I am anemic so I end up getting iron infusions and using a chewable iron supplement. During the infusions and taking the supplement, I drink orange juice to aid in the absorption. This is why I don’t want you getting vitamins with iron. Iron needs to be taken separately to replenish its reserves. If you are not anemic you do not need the additional iron anyway. Too much iron is just as dangerous as not enough. (More on low iron here.)
Magnesium. I cannot say enough good things about taking magnesium. So much so that I wrote a post specifically on the benefits of taking magnesium. Magnesium aids in heart health, can reduce migraines, supports bone health, reduces the risk of type 2 diabetes, fights depression, fights pain and so much more! Probiotics. The jury is still out on this. Good versus bad bacteria. Is there such a thing? I believe there is so I eat my yogurt! It makes a big difference for me, without question. Just read your labels and chose accordingly, you will do fine. Probiotics help treat gastrointestinal problems! For the women, those vaginal and urinary infections will all but stop! There are many options on how to get your probiotics in, do a little Googling and choose what will work for you.
